Welcome to Michigan's fishing paradise, where the Fairport Sport Fishing Association thrives within a vibrant fishing community dedicated to Michigan sport fishing.
The Fairport Sport Fishing Association exists to protect, preserve, and expand public access to the exceptional fisheries and waterways of Fairport Harbor, Sac Bay, Big Bay de Noc, the Garden Peninsula, and Lake Michigan.
We believe these waters are a priceless public resource that should remain accessible, healthy, and productive for anglers, boaters, families, visitors, and future generations. Through conservation, education, community partnerships, and responsible advocacy, we are committed to strengthening both our fisheries and the communities that depend on them.
Our vision extends beyond protecting what exists today. We are working to create new opportunities for recreation, economic growth, and public safety by advocating for the development of a deep-water harbor in Sac Bay, providing dependable access to Lake Michigan and a safe harbor for recreational and commercial vessels. We believe this investment will strengthen our region's outdoor economy, support tourism, improve emergency refuge for boaters, and establish the southern Garden Peninsula as a premier destination for Great Lakes recreation.
We are equally dedicated to improving public access throughout Big Bay de Noc and the southern end of the Garden Peninsula by supporting the development and improvement of boat launches, harbors, marinas, navigation channels, fishing access sites, and waterfront infrastructure. We will champion projects that responsibly balance recreation, conservation, environmental stewardship, and long-term economic sustainability.
The Fairport Sport Fishing Association is committed to bringing together anglers, charter captains, local businesses, conservation organizations, tribal partners, government agencies, and community leaders to pursue practical, forward-looking solutions that benefit everyone who values these waters.
We will advocate with integrity, lead through collaboration, and work tirelessly to ensure that the Great Lakes remain accessible, sustainable, and thriving for generations to come.
Our Mission is simple: Protect our waters. Improve access. Build for the future. Preserve our fishing heritage.

The Fairport Sport Fishing Association (FSFA) is a grassroots fishing community located in the Fairport area of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula along Lake Michigan. This association represents a close-knit group of anglers who share a deep passion for Michigan sport fishing, specifically targeting species such as Chinook (king salmon), coho salmon, lake trout, and steelhead.
Unlike larger formal organizations, the Fairport Sport Fishing Association serves as a local network that unites fishermen, charter crews, and outdoor enthusiasts who cherish the traditions and lifestyle associated with Great Lakes fishing. The group emphasizes camaraderie, the sharing of local knowledge, and a strong appreciation for the fishery, while also promoting Fairport as a unique and often overlooked fishing destination.
Additionally, FSFA is well-known for its community events, friendly competitions, and a robust identity that reflects the rugged, small-town character of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.
